Frequently Asked Questions

About The Post Group

  • The Post Group is a continuum-of-support practice that blends Core Energy Coaching with depth psychology. We help high performers move forward in practical ways while also addressing the patterns underneath what keeps repeating.

  • Leaders and executives, high performers in transition, athletes and performers, and people who are externally successful but internally disconnected from meaning. We also work well with the "I've tried everything and I'm still stuck" client who wants both traction and depth.

  • If you want quick tips without self-honesty, this will feel frustrating. If you are in an acute mental health crisis, or need a higher level of clinical care, we will help you find the right support instead of trying to force coaching to do a job it cannot do.

  • Common starting points include:

    • A transition that has disrupted identity (role change, burnout, breakup, relocation, career pivot)

    • Chronic overthinking, stuckness, or a sense of drift

    • High performance with rising costs (sleep, mood, relationships, substance reliance, anxiety)

    • Conflict, boundaries, and hard conversations

    • Meaning, purpose, and rebuilding motivation without self-pressure

    • Loneliness and disconnection, especially in high-achieving environments

  • Most clients experience increased clarity, cleaner decision-making, and more consistent follow-through. Deeper outcomes include improved self-trust, less compulsive productivity, better boundaries, and a more stable relationship with pressure.

Coaching, Therapy, and Consulting

  • Therapy is a clinical treatment for mental health symptoms and diagnoses. Coaching is a goal-oriented partnership focused on action, accountability, and behavior change.

If you choose our integrated option, we coordinate coaching with depth-oriented psychological care while keeping clear boundaries between coaching and therapy. If you are already in therapy, we can collaborate with your clinician when appropriate and with your consent.

  • Consulting tells you what to do. Coaching helps you become the person who can do it, repeatedly, under real-world pressure. We can be direct and strategic, but we do not "take over" your life or your choices.

  • Sometimes. We focus on helping you think cleanly, choose responsibly, and act consistently. When advice is useful, it is in service of your agency, not as a substitute for it.

The Work Itself

  • Sessions are structured, practical, and honest. We work from your real week, not your ideal one. Expect a mix of:

    • Clarifying what matters and what is true

    • Identifying the pattern beneath the pattern

    • Making a concrete plan you can execute

    • Practicing the conversation, boundary, or decision you are avoiding

    • Tracking costs and tradeoffs so you stop paying for your goals with your health or relationships

  • Most clients meet biweekly for 60 minutes. Some engagements use a different cadence based on intensity, season of life, or leadership demands.

  • Most clients work with us in 3 to 12 month containers. The right length depends on the depth of the pattern, the complexity of the transition, and how much support you want while you build new behaviors.

  • Between-session support is available and designed to keep momentum. This often includes brief check-ins, accountability, and support for real-time moments like hard conversations or decision points, within clear boundaries.

  • We set a clear baseline early and revisit it over time. That can include a Wheel of Life style snapshot, specific goals, and agreed markers of change such as fewer avoidance loops, faster recovery after setbacks, better boundaries, or improved consistency.

  • That is a valid starting place. We can work from symptoms and friction. What you avoid, what you resent, what you keep returning to, and what costs you are quietly paying are usually enough to begin.

Executive and Specialized Work

  • Yes. Executive work can include stakeholder context, role demands, decision-making under pressure, communication, conflict, and identity transitions. Sponsor alignment is available when it serves the work and preserves confidentiality.

  • We can work with many clients who have diagnoses when they are stable and appropriately supported. If trauma is central, we may recommend therapy alongside coaching or refer you to a clinician. We take scope seriously because it protects you.

Confidentiality and Safety

  • Yes, within the limits of safety and applicable law. If you choose coordinated care with another provider, we only share information with your explicit consent and clear agreements.

  • Your work is confidential. If there is a sponsor, we agree in advance on what can be shared. Typically that is high-level themes and progress markers, not personal content. We do not do backchannel reporting.

  • Coaching is not emergency care. If you are in immediate danger, call local emergency services. If you are in crisis but not in immediate danger, we will help you connect to appropriate clinical or crisis resources and stabilize your support system. We do not operate as an on-call crisis line.

Logistics

  • Pricing depends on the engagement type (standard coaching, executive, or integrated coordinated care) and the length. We employ a sliding scale to support individuals of all types. We'll share options clearly on the Discovery Call so you can decide without pressure.

  • We require at least 48 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. This allows us to offer that time to another client and respects the structure that makes this work effective.

  • Yes. We offer sessions via video, phone, and in-person at our Alameda office. The format depends on your needs, your schedule, and what works best for the kind of work we're doing together.

  • Then we design for reality. The point is not adding more to your life. The point is removing the hidden leaks that are already consuming your time, attention, and energy.

Fit and Getting Started

  • Start with a 45-minute Discovery Call. We'll clarify what you want, what is getting in the way, and what kind of support fits. If we both feel it's a match, we'll outline the container, cadence, and next steps.

  • We'll start by being honest about what didn't work, what you did not get, and what you are no longer willing to do. If we cannot offer a better path, we will say so.

  • You'll get directness without cruelty. We work adult-to-adult. We take responsibility seriously and we do not use shame as a tool.

Still Have Questions?

The best way to get answers is to schedule a Discovery Call. 45 minutes. No commitment. We'll talk about your specific situation and whether we're the right fit.
